Finally, our savior returns
It's been two years since I saw him, and lately, I thought he had disappeared forever. Three years since he first appeared at George Washington University, where he was able to rouse the students and make his first steps to run for President.
For the first time since he campaigned, President Barrack Obama looked like what we voted for, a pissed off Democrat, who wasn't going to take any punk moves from the Republicans. I can say that I haven't been this happy since he was still campaigning against big banks and the growing separation between the rich and the poor.
Obama announced today, that he would be getting rid of the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy in order to help pay for the trillions in deficit that America put on it's credit card with two wars and a prescription health reform.
While Obama is reducing something, the only eruption of applause he got from his entire speech was when he started talking about taxing the rich.
This seems like a good time to remember what we voted for. I voted for a man who was going to close our class gap, a man who was going after Wall St. when they fought deregulation and screwed over the majority of us.
Some have `acknowledged that some black people may have voted for Obama just because he was black but I don't think that's what it was about. I would say that a lot of the African American vote came from inspired speeches, and heartfelt love for our working class.
So for the first time in the past months, especially since November, when the Democrats were destroyed in the House, I feel like I have my president back. I feel like that guy who had socialistic tendencies is finally coming back around the corner and there is nothing that could make me more happy.
Of course there is the other side, the one that favors big business and fewer taxes and sure enough they were out in full force after the speech. The best argument came from Republican Jeb Hensarling who said, "I know no nation who taxed its way to prosperity."
Mr. Hensarling, appears to forget that before we had George W. Bush in office the rich paid higher taxes, and times were pretty good.
But the biggest argument came about "Class Warfare" and this is an issue that Democrats are iffy to touch. I almost wish they would, and if President Obama truly is who we voted for I hope he does come out and say, "If you want a war you have it, because there are more of us, than there are of you."
I just hope I don't have to wait another two years to hear that speech from him.
After Post:
Days after the speech, Obama was caught on a microphone blasting the Republicans. Thank God, I thought the guy was folding.
For the first time since he was elected he showed how tough he was to the American public. I think he will find that if he does that more, more people will vote for him.

Thanks for nothing MSNBC
There are times as a Democrat that I am proud, and there are times I am not. But these past couple days I have been more ashamed of being a journalist than anything. I am ashamed that MSNBC, a liberal news organization, is dropping the ball on one of the biggest news story in America.
I am trying to think back to a time in my life, or even my father’s life, when the American people have stood up like they are doing now and telling the rich––and the Republicans––to fuck off.
I am proud of the people; there are the few of us out there that have realized that the status quo has changed, that we no longer have a shot like we use to, and that America needs to fight back.
At MSNBC, with this revolt, we have Americans sitting in on the capital, refusing to leave. They are setting up drumlins and really making this hell for soon-to-be governor Scot Walker. And nothing in the media. There are literally more than 10 thousand people at the capital every weekend and no news. This is despicable. After two weeks in Egypt, CNN was all over the story; and for the campers on the capital, they are MIA, and the AMERICAN PEOPLE are speaking.
With the exception of Rachel Maddow I have yet to see any coverage of Wisconsin. In fact, for an experiment, I will turn on MSNBC randomly to see what they are showing so far and here is what I have found: Charlie Sheen. The end.

That’s right, the nation’s leading liberal news organization wants to talk about a coked up ex-Indians pitcher instead of the middle class taking a stand. Although, I suppose I shouldn’t be too shocked, they didn’t cover the 9/11 first responders bill at all, and when Obama dropped the defense on the DOMA bill, they spent five minutes on it only to cut away to Lindsey Lohan live in court.
Here is what's pathetic, though: I am not shocked that Jon Stewart, a comedian, has been on this story more than any other news organization. Even Fox News, the be all, end all of the Republicans isn’t reporting too much about this. Not that they would want to because they are losing, but still, you would think some news coverage.
We have the American people, in all of their glory standing up to the American public and we get Charlie Sheen. Come on journalism, for once, don’t do what sells, do what’s WINNING!

In 1969 Norma L. McCorvey found out she was pregnant for the third time. Under the current Dallas law, she could only get an abortion if she had been raped or there had been a case of incest. After panicking, she told the clinic that she had been raped, but was still turned down since there was no police report. Finally, she just had the child.
That story is one of the cornerstones of American law. McCorvey, and her attorneys would go on to sue the Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade. Using the alias Jane Roe, McCorvey's case eventually made it to the Supreme Court, where it was argued on two separate occasions. In the end, the case was ruled a win for Roe in a 7-2 vote, and in the decision, the court considered abortion a fundamental right.
I bring all this up because it appears that our good friends, the Gaysis Old People (GOP), have decided that Roe v. Wade is no longer an essential part of our community. Leave it to the Republican's to find a way to get rid of abortion and claim that it was part of their way to save us, the taxpayers, money.
Under the new Forcible Rape Only Bill, women who were drugged, had limited mental capacity or were underage during the sexual act (statutory rape) don't qualify.
After all, if I got to choose what I pay taxes for, I wouldn't be paying for Chris Lee's Craigslist sex-mail.

A couple of weeks ago, the GOP tried to change abortion by redefining rape. Yes, you read that correctly. Basically, the Grumpy Old People wanted to take away federal funding for rape by changing it to only funding abortions for "forcible rape." I suppose we can ignore stupidity of that statement, otherwise I will waste a hundred words on how dumb that sounds.

Where do I start?
I can't even begin to imagine what being raped is like, nor would I want to. Having your body taken advantage of by anyone else should be punishable by castration. But, now to tell people, might I add people who pay your salary, that you won't federally fund them after they have been raped is ridiculous.
Luckily, they dropped the ball on that argument and have now taken to something even more stupid. I wouldn't expect anything else. Now the Geezers On Patrol want to take full aim at Planned Parenthood. The plan now is to take away their funding. Great, so let's not directly go after the Roe v. Wade case, instead lets tip toe our way around it and make getting abortions impossible. Thanks.
What really annoys me here, is the reason behind these issues. The Geezers are saying that people don't want their tax money to go to this, but don't we all pay taxes to things we don't support? I didn't support the war in Iraq, and our money went to that. I don't support John Boehner using spray on tans, but again there goes my money. And now I have to hear an argument, that abortions are a waste of my tax paying money? Sure, let's just forget about those millions spent on Iraq, or the very costly Patriot Act, which essentially gives me no privacy.
Here is a better idea, if you are going to take peoples' rights to their own body away, I want to start adding them and gaining money. I have never smoked, but how about we legalize marijuana. Taxes on that will make considerable revenue, and at the same time not cost the taxpayers money to put all the marijuana possessors in jail.

A ray of Hope.
Everyday, I wake up, turn on CNN and debate jumping off a building after hearing how bad things are getting in the world.
Whether it's a huge deficit left by our good friend George W. Bush, who didn't pay for his wars, or how bad things are getting for our friends to the south, nothing seems to put a smile on my face.
But finally, in the midst of $100 barrels of gas, I can look up north and see people stand up to their government. The Republicans, who were voted in during the midterm elections, thanks primarily to a great smear campaign run by Fox News, have decided that instead of upping the taxes on the richest people in the state, they'll just cut jobs.
There are a lot of ways to attack this, but the most obvious is to say this: If we cut teachers' jobs and pay, we hurt students more than anyone. Constantly, we Americans have to hear about how stupid we are compared to the rest of the world. But, when we have decided to fix that, they want to cut our teaching staff.
Teachers already don't get paid near enough money to deal with stupid, annoying and foul mouth children. Now, they want to take away healthcare benefits and pensions. Personally, I have a firm belief that a teacher should be given free healthcare for life.
First year Governor Scott Walker has created a no-progress work zone in the state senate and his current bill would essentially eliminate unions, as well as take more money and benefits away from teachers. He has refused to budge on it. And that's why the Democrats have finally done something about it.
While I am a liberal, I am first and foremost a Texan. So, when I see Democrats get pushed around and really have no backbone, it really irks me.
The few who do stand up to the Republicans, like Nancy Pelosi, who I believe is one of the best House majority leaders (just look at her parties' voting record), are mocked and made fun of constantly. But finally, the 14 Democratic senators in Wisconsin, have done something about it.
The Senate in Wisconsin holds 33 seats, 19 for the Republicans and 17 for the Democrats. In order for the state to vote on the senate budget, at least 20 seats must be present. The Democrats have shown their disdain for this bill by simply not showing up, and fleeing to Illinois.
This in turn has put the voting on hold. Couple that with teachers taking "sick" days to protest and students joining them, our country finally has reason for hope. What makes this scenario even funnier is that doctors have shown up to write these teachers sick notes, so they can continue to protest.
The protestors have now taken to sleeping in the lobby, and, yesterday, they were joined by fire fighters, who would be exempt from the cut but came anyway to support the teachers.
But the thing that looks the brightest is the students. Instead of hanging out at home and playing "Call of Duty," they made a stand.

Useless deaths
In the past week, five, count it, five underage homosexuals have killed themselves. It's sad, is it ever so sad, that these people are killing themselves. And when we hear it people are shocked, they can't believe it. They don't understand why these people are killing themselves, but it's so obvious.
We have policies, set mainly by republicans that are politically pushing around homosexuals. I laugh when I see these republicans saying they are worried, worried that these young people are dying and they want to stop bullying.
They want to tell these kids that the bullying will stop after they leave high school, but will it?
According to the Republicans openly gay people cannot serve in the military. Not only that, but they can't have the basic right to get married. How is that for bullying? It's funny that they don't see it. They don't get that they are the bullies.
Republicans always talk about the trickle down effect. They give the tax break to the big company, the company gives more jobs out. Well, here is the other trickle down. You treat a particular group of people like shit, so does everyone else.
Of course there is going to be bad treatment of homosexuals at the smaller level, why wouldn't there be.
They see the law makers, the senators, people like Newt Gingrich say that these people shouldn't have basic rights and then they follow along. It's despicable.
There are not enough words to describe how bad this is. But recently gay celebrities have taken to the internet to talk about how it gets better, they say that after high school the teasing stops. The hatred stops. But it doesn't.
America, if nothing else, is consistent. The country is filled with hatred, and white males who bully others. It started early, with the Native Americans. The Indians were killed, almost a complete genocide. Equivalent if not worse than what the Nazi's did to the Jews.
They then turned to the Blacks, enslaving them and lynching them.
Treating them as something less than human, blacks weren't allowed at the school, to vote, to live a decent life. They were never given a shot. After decades of trying to fix that, and we really still aren't there. America moved to it's next pick. Women.
Women were never treated well but as men tried to block their basic rights of voting and abortion it was the general public's next victim.
But now that women, and blacks are starting to get better treatment… the latest victim has come out.
Homosexuals and Hispanics have become the new target. The saying goes that we must learn from history or we are doomed to repeat it. Seems like we need tutorials.

ATTN: Dr. Laura, you are a moron.
For the life of me I do not get why these shock jocks keep making racist jokes, and then can't figure out why people get mad at them. You are picking on people who have taken the majority of our countries worst times and shoving it in their face again. Good job.
So if you haven't heard Dr. Laura -- who is a doctor of I don't know what -- had a African American woman call in to her show for some advice. Dr. Laura, and I use Dr. loosely here, managed to not give her advice but just go on a huge N word rant.
She now says she is quitting her show so she can, "regain her first amendment right." Did you catch that?
The First Amendment protects the government from censoring you, it doesn't prevent you from being a dumb ass and being criticized. According to Dr. Laura the First Amendment Right means that not only can you say whatever you want, but no one can say otherwise. That you are able to say whatever you want and people have to agree.
So maybe we shouldn't criticize Westboro Baptist. I mean they have the right, and we should just agree.
